Variations on a theme

Today is a similar look to previous posts. After a few weeks you will inevitably end up wearing variations on a theme if you've identified your own personal style. This is my smarter day wear look for when I'm working so I feel polished, considered and comfortable. That's comfortable with my style not comfy cosy!

Sometimes it's hard to strike the balance between what you want to look like ,'the blue sky vision' and what is appropriate for you, your shape, your colouring or your everyday lifestyle. If you take a more realistic approach and focus on the core staples in your wardrobe you will find daily outfit building much easier.

I know it's not spring yet but the changeover in stores from AW to SS is beginning in earnest. Whilst I don't agree with these steadfast seasonal drops you can't ignore them. Magazines will also be showcasing new season collections so you can't help but think about dressing for Spring.

I advise clients to do a wardrobe cleanse now and late August while your wardrobe 'go to' Winter or Summer items are fresh in your mind. If you then make a shopping list you can take advantage of final clearance sales or wait until the mid season sales.

It's a strategy to adopt if you'd like dressing to be more effortless. Like anything a stitch in time saves nine and this certainly applies to your wardrobe!

Underneath my Reiss Funnel neck black coat I'm wearing a double layer of cream silk, a French Connection silk vest and H&M silk shirt from their premium range, The French Connection Spring silk vest is a great summer staple and although it's no longer available in cream there are some great shades to choose from, click on above link to view, My jeans are Earnest Sewn blue skinny jeans from TK Maxx and Uterque leather buckle detail boots. To add a splash of colour I have my two tone Johnston's of Elgin scarf from TK Maxx. This one is no longer available but they do a confectionery mix scarf which I've shown below.
