Spring break

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter and Bank holiday weekend.

They've been off school a week already but my two have been playing tag cough and cold so between their spiking temperatures and the unpredictable weather we've managed 2 days out and about and rather a lot of time at David Lloyd!

First it was a day with friends at Fishers Farm, West Sussex and as it was off peak it meant it was good value for money, wasn't busy so no queues and whilst some of the activities had specific time slots, as staff was skeletal, it didn't stop the fun.

We also got to see the new born chicks, twin lambs and baby goats up close but then had the dubious task of explaining why the mummy goat was eating her own after birth, facts on the Farm!

Then on Easter Saturday we headed to the Midlands for a family get together and our annual Easter egg trail at a National Trust venue which this year was the gorgeous 15th century moat house at Baddesley Clinton, above. Again we were so lucky as, with just an hour to go until it closed, it was very quiet and wasn't raining. After successfully following the clues and two chocolate bunnies later we left to head back down south and the heavens opened!

Unfortunately we didn't get time to explore the house but will definitely visit again when I'm next up.

Here I'm wearing my leopard Adidas Stan Smiths, Maje 'Gaston' parka, grey marl cashmere hoodie, James jeans, Coccinelle cross body bag, ombre cashmere scarf and John Lewis gloves all of which have been featured on my blog before.

As the Spring/Summer collections hit down I've started to compile a list of new season staples to update my wardrobe. My first purchase are these silver low block heel sandals from Calvin Klein at TK Maxx, below. I'm envisaging wearing them with white culottes and a silk vest for an easy Summer look.

My blogs, like the weather, will be intermittent over the Spring break but back to normal from the 11th April. Click on the links for more information or to shop, enjoy the holidays and thanks for stopping by.

Fancy floral footwear

LK Bennett Aniki floral print shoe £195-top right
Mango Ankle cuff pointed toe shoes £39.99-middle right
J.Crew Roxie T-strap pumps £298-bottom right

The new season has thrown up some micro trends and one of them that I keep coming across is the printed floral shoe. First seen on the catwalk at the Dolce & Gabbana SS16 ready to wear show they've now sprung up on the high street, from high end brands L.K. Bennett and J.Crew through to more affordable offers at Ted Baker, Mango, and French Connection.

They're the perfect accessory for weddings and garden parties and great for adding interest to a block colour dress or peeping from a wide leg trouser, it's up to you how you wear these blooming lovely heels.

Take a look at H&M Premium Quality

Today I'm wearing my blue cotton shirt from H&M and was finding a similar version online, see left, when I jumped on to their Premium Quality range to see what the new season offerings were.

I usually only look for silk or cashmere but was so impressed that I thought I'd create an outfit builder using items from the collection, for a more formal work wear look, see below.

The print silk dress can either be worn loose, to skim over any problem areas or you can use a suede belt to accentuate a slim waist. The linen trench is a Spring update on the flowy trench and can be worn for a weekend off duty look and be useful for a cover up on cooler summer evenings too.

The heeled court shoe in two textures will look great with a skinny jean for date night and the light neutral shade lengthens the leg and is more flattering than a heavy black when wearing a dress or skirt with nude tights or a bare leg.

Fringing and suede continue to be strong trends for the new season so why not combine both with a roomy shopper in a practical dark blue.

I was also surprised to see some value for money, gold plated jewellery and the fine bracelets will add a twinkle at the wrist. To shop click on the links and thanks for stopping by.
