Whether it's rain, shine or undecided it's always good to enjoy some time with family and friends beside the seaside, beside the sea. The children braved a dip while I huddled in the towels then it was off to Baked Worthing to warm up with a hot chocolate, brownies and a slice of the surprisingly good pecan & parsnip cake!

The summer social season has begun which inevitably means more thoughtful outfit planning is required. I find that friends and clients alike can get themselves in a tailspin when deciding what to wear and can spend hours shopping for something they won't ever wear again.
Here are some of my Wardrobe Wand tips when it comes to occasion dressing. Tip 1) Don't spend an excessive amount on a dress unless you love it/and or it looks amazing. If it fits and flatters your shape, is a great colour on you it will make you feel confident which will reflect in the way you wear it. As soon as a client walks out of the changing room I can tell if they love a garment (or not)-as they walk tall, hold themselves well and smile! If you're not doing this have a rethink until you do. Tip 2) Give yourself plenty of time to find an outfit. If you panic buy you will end up paying over the odds or buy something you'll never wear again, mainly because you didn't love it in the first place. I would plan 4-6 weeks ahead of an event. Tip 3) Buy the right underwear. If you go all out to look fab don't spoil it with a visible panty line or badly fitting bra. Get expert help; John Lewis offer a bra fitting service in store or watch their expert video. Tip 4) Remember a total look includes make-up, nails and usually more skin on display. If you can't afford a salon pedicure then do a weekly D.I.Y pedi 3 weeks before an event to make sure heels are baby soft and keep nails shaped and polished. Keep to pale nudes or pinks if you aren't a confident nail painter! Moisturise daily and if you aren't a spray tan fan use a subtle self tanning moisturiser like Dove, a few days before. I would also recommend booking a make-over to give your make-up an update, even if you end up just buying a new lipstick! Tip 5) Spend more on shoes or a bag that you'll be able to wear again and again with several different outfits. High end accessories will elevate your whole look!
