So it may be all about a sock boot or a velvet embroidered block heel boot this season but the studded leather ankle boot is still very much alive and kicking those Autumn leaves; with a bevy of styles influenced by Chloe's Susanna Studded Ankle boot available on the high street. After a fleeting visit to & Other Stories store this weekend I was tempted to buy their version of, below, but my Uterque boots are still in great condition and will be doing the same job so I decided to leave them for now. I've researched alternatives and picked my favourite below. Apart from the more affordable versions I've picked another style of studded boots I've noticed a lot on social media are these Anine Bing Charlie boots, below. At over £500 they are still an investment purchase but more subtle than the Chloe boots. I love this outfit combination of easy grey t-shirt, cropped black jean and camel coat with mid grey cashmere scarf and these are the perfect boot to give interest and modernity! Definitely a look to recreate this Autumn.

You may have noticed that my posts have been non existent this week and here is the reason! Cole is an 8 week old miniature labradoodle and he is the new member of the Skagerlind family. Anyone who has had a puppy will understand that the initial phase of settling them into their new home is a tad trying; which is all but forgotten in the moment he gives you those puppy dog eyes! So todays outfit builder is inspired by this gorgeous new addition and themed around houndstooth check, which is having a fashion moment this AW season. I've chosen these Zara houndstooth skinny trousers which have a frilled pocket detail to give them a feminine twist. Layer up in burgundy and reds, don't be afraid to put them together, and ground them with neutrals of grey, black and white. For more interest I've added the Dune V vamp court shoe which compliments the houndstooth check of the trousers. I've chosen a mixed bangle set from Kate Spade New York as I have both grey tones in the fabrications and gold colour in the hardware of the Hill & Friends bag. I'd also have a deep burgundy nail and red lips if you are confident wearing this universally flattering lipstick colour! This is a fail safe ensemble for work and the tailored red jacket from Mango is a great shape and length that adds pop to an otherwise polished, corporate friendly look. Hopefully my four legged friend won't keep me too busy to blog over the coming weeks so do keep popping back; but apologies in advance if I'm too dog-tired to post daily! Here I've teamed it with Lee jeans, Adidas Original Hamburg trainers, which match back to the ground beige of the print on the coat and stops the outfit looking too heavy. Underneath you can just see my Sandro silk top and I've accessorised with Gucci sunglasses and Coccinelle burgundy cross body bag,all old and seen before. Since I made a conscious decision to buy less fashion, (unless it's to replace a basic, or I absolutely love something) and make do with what I already own, my personal wardrobe staples have become more apparent; and the Leopard print coat is one such fundamental item! This seasons interpretation from Topshop has a retro inspired design with contrast lapels, see below, and is apparently selling fast; which is another indication that you should own this versatile print coat! It's the statement item to an otherwise simple ensemble of white t-shirt and blue mom jeans, and elevates an off duty look of sweat and boyfriend jeans; see Pinterest Board pins above for more inspiration. For todays outfit builder I've chosen a House of Fraser Leopard print coat, as I prefer the silver/grey ground colour mix. Here I've shown Lee mom jeans for a style update and I love the Coccinelle leather bag with contrast gusset. I love to pick out a shade from the outfit and match back to a nail lacquer and this sophisticated magenta shade from O.P.I is perfect. It's the small details that make the overall look considered.
