September is the perfect time to reassess your Wardrobe Staples. I'm going through a phase of wanting to look more polished but still relaxed and think a Black coat is what I'm missing.
I've been visiting & Other Stories online a lot recently for my blog posts, unfortunately they don't have a store on the South Coast, and love these three coats, especially the black trench and the styling with a loose trouser and flat sandal.
It reminds me of Victoria Beckham in recent pics, in her Celine chunky flat sandals.
I'm also veering towards more black in my wardrobe, something I tell Wardrobe Wand clients to be careful of; as it's a colour that can drain your complexion and isn't always the most flattering to more mature skin.
That said it is always used for optical slimming, especially on the lower half.
Anyway back to the coats and as my camel Mango flowy trench, shown in top pic, has been so useful I think I'll plump for a black flowy trench for a new season update.
Keep an eye out for it in upcoming posts! Click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.
My useful Mango flowy trench
I know it's not quite cool enough to wear cashmere just yet but it is definitely the time to buy. I popped into my local TK Maxx where their knitwear offer has hit down onto the shop floor. I always go for the 100% cashmere first to either replace knits that have seen better days (or my hubby shrank!) or I buy updates with shapes or styles that I don't already own.
That said I end up boomeranging any colour that isn't grey.....and whilst I do dabble with camel I don't think it always suits my skin colouring unless I have a winter tan, which is highly unlikely.
See my latest purchases from TK Maxx, which are available online below, but the best selection is always in store. Also I am a genuine fan of TK Maxx for affordable cashmere and this is NOT a sponsored post. As cashmere styles rarely date but are notoriously hard to keep pristine and away from those pesky moths I recommend going to discount retailers for this particular retail fix rather than splashing out.

Today I'm wearing my Adidas Leopard trainers, which are great for adding interest to an outfit, and whenever I wear them I get several compliments so if you didn't manage to get your hands on a pair of Stan Smiths Leopard trainer then Mint Velvet have a web exclusive Leopard pony skin trainer; all sizes currently available!
Here I am wearing them with a layered look for Autumn; with a light base plaid flannel shirt, from Beach Lunch Lounge, so it doesn't look too dark or heavy. For a more relaxed vibe I've left it open and worn an M&S Collection grey cotton vest t-shirt, old, underneath.
To pick out the tan in the Leopard print of my trainers, just seen, I've gone for a knot tan belt, another of my wardrobe staples from Banana Republic, old. See a similar one from Jigsaw, Bethan knot belt £59, click here.
My Mango soft trench coat, old, has come out again for additional coverage with the change in the weather, and as it's still a style that's going strong in the outerwear offer on the high street I've picked a Zara short trench for todays outfit builder.
You'll also notice that I've matched back the nail polish shade with a colour in the plaid of the shirt and grounded the overall outfit with a black t-shirt and leather belt from the Premium range at H&M, which is well worth a look for affordable cashmere too!
Hopefully you'll be inspired by this Autumnal layered look and try it with different elements already in your wardrobe. Click on the text links to shop and thanks for stopping by.
