However in this interim period, between festive excess and renewed vigour to stick to resolutions, why don't you spend 20 minutes clearing out your underwear drawer? It will give you a dose of wardrobe therapy whilst doing a last good deed in 2015. 

Recycle your unwanted and wrong size bras and help the charity 'Against breast cancer' raise funds for 'dedicated research to improve detection and increase survival after breast cancer diagnosis'. So if you no longer fill your cup size then bin them in a bra bank near you, or post them to the address provided, so they won't end up going to landfill!

I did it myself yesterday and as well as ditching my over stretched, greying lace or snagged knickers, disposed of 12 bras ranging from Calvin Klein to M&S and Elle Macpherson intimates. I reaped the rewards this morning when it took me seconds to find matching lingerie rather than the usual scramble through an indeterminable pile of underwear!

Of course you then have a ready made excuse to peruse the sales and buy some 'grown up' foundation garments from coveted brands such as La Perla, below, L'Agent by Agent Provocateur, above left, or my personal favourite for comfort and colour Calvin Klein, here at Selfridges or Figleaves. 

If buying matching underwear is one of your New Year fashion resolutions then you can sit pretty knowing that you've already ticked that box. Bra...vo!

It's a classic. The wool camel coat is a wardrobe staple that will stand the test of time and so it's worth investing in.

The sales have started and you might want to request sale alerts from your favourite designers or stores to bag the best bargains.

The coat I'd love to find in my Fashion Advent calendar would be this double breasted wool and angora coat from Gucci, see left, but at £2,050 is a tad over my budget!

Hence I've been looking at the more traditional brands to ensure the best cut and quality and you can't go wrong with MaxMara or Jaeger.

So I was thrilled to see this conker wool coat from Jaeger now reduced at John Lewis from £399 and is now £275.

I'm devising my outfit planner for the Christmas period and think that burgundy, leopard, grey and navy are going to feature heavily.

I'm trying to move away from the old faithful all black look as it's a colour that gets less flattering near the face as we age.

Yes it has slimming qualities if you wear on the lower half but a light pastel silky blouse will be a lot kinder to your pallor!

Anyway whilst deciding on what I'd wear for a post lunch stroll. stumbled across this fabulous pair of trainers from Valentino, see outfit left, and below left.

It's been so mild that a welly, Ugg or snow boot would be just too much so a sneaker is the way to go.

Much as I'd love to see these in my Fashion Advent calendar, with their signature pyramid studs, at £515 it would be hard to justify my purchase.

Bring on the next best thing.....the new Nike Internationalist leopard print jacquard trainer at £90, below right.

Those that read my blog regularly will know I already own and love an original jacquard pair which I wear a lot. However I also love a leopard print and so these are the perfect hybrid for a New Year update!
