Tartan outfit for St Andrew's day

So it's St Andrew's day today, the patron saint of Scotland, and I'm wearing the only thing resembling tartan in my wardrobe; my Uniqlo flannel check shirt. The definition of Tartan is a pattern consisting of criss crossed vertical and horizontal bands in multiple colours so it definitely applies here!

There must be something about the darker Monday mornings that sees me reaching for the cashmere jumper every week...and today I've picked my navy cashmere V neck jumper, again from Uniqlo, to pick the navy out in my flannel shirt.

If you want to be even cosier then wear a thin thermal top underneath your shirt, as I did at my sons rugby tournament this weekend when it was blowing a hooley; or try a rollneck long sleeve t-shirt, as Uniqlo have styled it, shown in my outfit builder below.

I've also been sporting my HPI of Sweden pom pom cable knit hat, which I bought in Sweden, but the nearest I can find in the UK is this Poppy London cable knit hat which is now reduced.

I'm also wearing my biker trousers from Zara, Deane & White cashmere scarf and 'Is To Me' brown suede ankle boots, both from TK Maxx and my bargain M&S parka bought in the January sales.

If you like today's outfit shop a similar look by clicking on the descriptive text below my outfit builder and thanks for stopping by.

Black Friday black outfit

Here's my tip for Black Friday shopping......don't! It seems to me a precursor to the January sales when I'm sure if you wait you'd get a better deal.  Those that read this blog regularly will know my fail safe sales mantra of 'Don't buy in the sale what you wouldn't buy at full price'.

Most of my Wardrobe Wand clients chuck out pile is the result of mad frenzy sale shopping when everything you wouldn't normally wear seems appealing with a 50% discount!  Make a list now of those core items, clothes you wear week in week out, that either need replacing or a new season update. Then search online before even going near that out of town shopping centre, make a list of your favourites, try on instore then, and only then, dare to make a sale purchase!!

Today I'm wearing my Reiss leather jacket, which was an investment sale purchase, to show I do actually practice what I preach! As I've shown it before I've chosen a value for money Mango zip leather jacket for today's outfit builder.

I'm wearing it with my Zara polo neck sweater, see more polo neck inspiration from Sheerluxe.com here, and skinny rip jeans, also from Zara. I've accessorised with an aztec pattern scarf, as the burgundy running through it matches that of my Coccinelle bag, but I've chosen a classic tartan scarf from Johnstons below. I'm wearing my old Uterque ankle boots again....and as I keep wearing them am showing a burgundy Chelsea boot from Massimo Dutti instead, as this style continues to have its fashion moment.

A quick post today with a quick AW accessory update! A faux fur pom pom keyring; seen here on my classic Anya Hindmarch bag is a pink flurry keyring by Helen Moore from Anthropologie.

Faux fur is a big trend this season and Helen Moore England has it nailed, with the best fake fur range of accessories I've seen this season.

However if you want the real McCoy then Charlotte Simone is the brand for you!

If you like my look today shop actual or similar product by clicking on the descriptive text below my outfit builder and if you enjoy this post please kindly share with like minded folk.

Thanks for stopping by.
