Ripcurl Dawn Patrol Short Sleeve wetsuit £78.30

My wetsuit finally arrived last week, a belated Valentines present; a Ripcurl Dawn Patrol shorty, with leopard panel and neon yellow trim.

I'd seen it online, loved it, only to discover it was sold out in most outlets, as it's an older style. So then I scoured the internet to find it available at Nordstrom, so it had to be shipped internationally.

The back story is that we purchased an inflatable paddle board ,or SUP, last year with the aim of getting the kids into windsurfing, kite surfing, wake boarding, etc, you get the picture, so our Summer, weather permitting, can be spent mainly on the beach.

I then fancied a go at paddle boarding but with the English Channel's maximum sea temperature reaching 18 degrees celsius you do need the right kit! Hence my search began for a wetsuit that was stylish and flattering, a combination I discovered wasn't easy to find.

The hubby has been windsurfing since the tender age of 9, as he was lucky enough to be a stones throw away from the sea. I on the other hand, growing up in the landlocked Midlands, was less familiar with the English coastline with Weston-super-Mare and Rhyll being the nearest resorts, neither of which are renowned for their surfing reputation.

So now I have the challenge of trying to look half decent in a wetsuit as well as being able to stand up on a SUP board. After watching the Ripcurl video of Nikki van Dijk I think I may just leave it to the professionals!
