last minute sale shopping

So today I'm hitting the sales. Well actually I'm only going to M&S as I'm on the hunt for a coat I've seen.
I would have paid full price at the time but they didn't have my size which seems to be a common M&S phenomenon. Just stand in the middle of the womenswear section for 3 minutes in any store and I bet you hear that lament more than once! Don't even get me started. What used to be the stalwart of the British high street has now turned its back on their core customer and continues to chase the fashion fickle.
To be continued....

Here I am wearing my M&S thermal top (they do some things well!) with a grey Monsoon merino wool turtleneck jumper. Blue skinny jeans again,a tan leather belt and the most contentious item in my wardrobe to date. My M&S faux fur gilet. The hubby hates it and I had to ignore his reference to' big bird' but the kids love it and when I wear it liken me to a big, soft, furry bear.

Back to the sales and sometimes the sale dribs and drabs get consolidated to a few stores and you may just find what you are looking for. Not in this case I'm afraid but I do end up purchasing a faux fur trim hooded parka and camel colour cashmere onesie. Click on this link to see my Wardrobe Wand facebook page for more details.

Okay so here are my fail safe sale rules:

1) Never go to the sales without a shopping list. You will get distracted and buy something that you don't need and won't wear and that will sit along the rest of the sale purchases in your wardrobe 'that only cost £15........' Just think 10 sale items that you don't wear equate to £150 towards something you'll wear forever.

2) Never buy anything that you would not have purchased at full price. Stop and think about this before you trot to the till. If you had the disposable income would you have bought it? Put it down if you even pause to think about it. The real high of sale shopping is finding something you love at a discount price.

3) Can you visualize 3 outfits with this sale item? Whether it be outerwear, evening wear or separates this rule can be applied to anything with the obvious exceptions of nightwear and underwear!

See my look replicated below with items currently available. With any luck they might be in the sales too!
