However rather than treating it like a magazine shoot I made a point of being more casual and relaxed with the adornment of the tree even allowing my children to place their homemade offerings in prime position, rather than near the back, out of sight, haphazard baubles looking like they've already had a sherry or two or worse daring each other to jump from the tips of branches, and the lights look literally thrown on, but at least they were put on first; I have kept some standards!
Each year I buy a few new items; this year being no exception, as I purchased a clip on Robin, a glitter bird and some pine cone glitter picks from Gisela Graham, the designer who seems to have the festive dec monopoly, from Sparks Yard, Arundel. I admit to putting those up myself.
But isn't that the festive fun of family and sharing in these annual traditions together, and once the decorating was completed, albeit with a few breakages along the way, we all sat down with a log fire and watched 'Love Actually' together. Well I did have to hide their eyes and fast forward a few bits; I'd forgotten about certain racy scenes and just how much bad language there was!
