New Year, old basics!

This is my first post of the New Year and I'm probably not the only mum on the school run who woke up with a head cold, jeans a tad tighter than usual and with children that promised they'd packed their school bags last night only to be searching the house for something 'important' five minutes before having to leave!

I'm also not the only mum who reached for something easy to wear; an outfit that's been on the school run many times before. So this chilly Monday morning I opted to wear my Uniqlo grey cashmere V neck jumper, black Hudson skinny jeans, F&F Aviator jacket, Aztec pattern scarf, Pom Pom hat, one of my Christmas presents from the Fur Bobble shop, and J.Crew Camouflage Chelsea Rain boots.

I'm just getting back into my stride after the festive period and adamant that I'll be more organised, something I say every year! And after this mornings, more clamour than calm, exit for school I'm even more determined to get things in order.

So in need of some literary inspiration I've just ordered 'The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning' by Margareta Magnusson; after reading a touching excerpt from her book in the 'You' magazine a couple of weeks ago.

Swedish Death Cleaning or 'Dostadning' promotes a permanent form of organisation which in turn makes every day life run more smoothly; just what I'm looking for! As with wardrobe cleansing I think it's always easier to change a few simple things initially, instead of embarking on a mammoth task which will then seem overwhelming, destined not to be completed. Once your small efforts pay dividends you'll be more inclined to keep going and decluttering will soon become a habit, which will then become a lifestyle choice you adopt in earnest.

If you're tackling your wardrobe I suggest starting with your underwear/bra drawer. Today I'm determined to  make my Inbox total a more manageable amount from the squirm inducing current tally of 18,917! So I'll do this by unsubscribing from at least 25 email lists that clutter up my inbox daily. I may even give myself the challenge to get it down to 15,000 by the days end. Watch this space.

If you like todays easy outfit then I've created an outfit builder with a similar look below. Maybe these outfit ideas will help you be more organised in 2018 too. Click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.
