I was flicking through one of my go to websites for style inspiration www.whowhatwear.com when I was reminded of a style tip that I often live by but have never really put into words.

What is it? It's the power of three!
That is always wear another item along with your basic outfit of a top and bottom. This excludes footwear and extreme climate combating outerwear, but does include accessories, knitwear and statement jackets. It's a common styling tip recommended by some of the larger US retail stores, Nordstrom and Macys, to ensure their fashion sales associates look put together and..... well, stylish!

It's probably why I love layering so much. Although it requires a tad more effort it makes me feel more 'considered' and gives my outfit more impact. Today I'm wearing my Zara white linen shirt, M&S grey marl sweatshirt, Zara soft rip skinny jeans and Reiss black leather jacket. I've accessorised with my Karl Lagerfeld black sunglasses from TK Maxx and my set of silver bangles.

However today I broke one of my own style mantras which is never wear ballet pumps until April!
I also realised why it is one of my mantras when I ventured outside on the school run! I think I'll wear boots tomorrow.

If you like my look click on the descriptive text under the outfit builder to go straight to the relevant websites.
