My everyday items that make me smile!

It's the small things that matter according to a Napoleon Hill quote "If you can't do great things, do small things in a great way"; and over time I concur with that wisdom. So today I'm sharing some of the small everyday things that I own that make me smile, some that I've invested in, knowing that if I love it I'll always get pleasure from it and the smaller luxuries that don't cost a fortune but make the everyday just that little bit better.

I treat myself to fresh cut flowers regularly and I particularly love Parrot or Speciality tulips. These bright sunny yellow ones are tipped with red and are from Waitrose, and whilst they might not last long each morning when I come into the kitchen they brighten my mood.

My Gucci prescription reading glasses were definitely an investment; when the optician told me my increasing age, and time spent in front of a screen, had impaired my vision I was only slightly buoyed up by the sight (excuse the pun) of the understated floral arms on this Gucci pair of specs!

I bought my S'well water bottle earlier this year for the gym, and much prefer it to my sports branded plastic version! The only down side is I should have got the bigger one as now I'm ducking out of each training session to fill it up again...and no it's not an excuse before you start.

When the kids are tucked up in bed and I'm getting around to writing a post I light a SoH Melbourne candle and pour a small glass of wine before typing. I've tried numerous scents and don't have a particular favourite but tonight I'm burning Collins St Brass. I buy them from Workshop Living in Brighton and love both the fragrance and vessel, and they also burn for ages, so you get your moneys worth!

The hand mirror is an essential for any handbag and when I saw this smiley wink face version in Paperchase, see similar here, I couldn't resist. Obviously, being bright yellow, it's easy to find in my bag and even though I seldom use the mirror its presence in between the loose change, keys and tissues is reassuring and makes me happy.

The daily domestic chores have definitely been made brighter by this limited edition Hummingbird design by Johanna Basford. I've been using Method products for a while now but this collaboration has made me buy in bulk. Again it's giving importance to those items you use daily ,which you often take for granted, that can make the meaningless more meaningful and give you joy.

So without sounding like an Ikea ad invest in the everyday and do small things in a great way! Click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.
