Those of you that may have seen Wardrobe Wands latest post on facebook will know I have just bought a faux leather dress from none other than BHS. I admit I was sceptical at first until I saw it in the flesh, as I had to order it online, and tried it on.

I am planning on wearing it tonight for date night, with bare legs and my Calvin Klein pointed suede ankle boots, which are similar to these 'Anaki' boots at TK Maxx. However as that isn't much of an 'outfit' I have shown a work day look, with the same dress, above in todays outfit builder.

I love layering for Autumn and think grey and winter white look great with burgundy. The pieces I have picked will work well in your other AW combinations too. A tip to looking groomed is to match tights with your first layer which will then pull that shade through the whole outfit, as I've done here with the polo neck. Experiment with mixing textures too but try not to have one texture dominate. An overload of leather will look like you're about to mount a motorbike!

When the weather is dry a sleeveless knitted waistcoat is so useful. My current favourite is this one from Wrap London, and comes in two great shades. For this outfit I've chosen the pearl mink shade to lighten an otherwise dark outfit to avoid it being too sombre.
