Feeling festive gift ideas

15/12/2015

I'm finally feeling festive, the tree is adorned, the mistletoe is in situ and I've got some meagre outdoor lights on the privet! My youngest had her nativity and my eldest played Joseph at the school choir service.

However I only started my Christmas shopping yesterday whilst one of my very good and very organised friends is already shopping for next year!

So for those like me that still need a few pointers look no further than todays post. I thought I'd take a break from my Fashion Advent calendar to give you my top 5 Christmas present ideas.

1) For the Beauty Addict:

This is 'Kiss and Love', the latest edition of YSL Touche Éclat, the iconic beauty essential and best selling corrector.

Buy from John Lewis as it's slightly cheaper than other retailers at £25!

2) For the frequent Traveller:

Herb Lester is my go to brand for intelligent, in the know, well designed maps of places of interest.

This European gift set includes 22 of it's guides and comes in a ready made gift box; at £66 it's also a considerable saving compared to buying them individually.

3) For the Joker:

The classic Ladybird books have been given an adult twist with this tongue in cheek 'How it works' collection.

Also from the adult Ladybird book range is 'The Shed' and "The Hangover" which will surely come in useful over the festive period!

This 'How it works' The MUM is £6.99 from Amazon.

4) For the Family/ and or Dog Lover:

The children already own Bird Bingo so I'm now able to identify lesser known feathered friends to rival Steve Backshall!

They would love a real life puppy but we know they aren't just for Christmas so this will have to suffice!

Dog Bingo by Polly Horner is available from Waterstones now £14.99; a great board game to crack open after the Queen's speech!

5) For the Cook:

This Parlane International ceramic dish is great for serving up your veg on Christmas day, and will even make the sprouts look appealing!

It comes in grey or natural and I love the simple but effective pastry fluted finish.

£39.50 available from Rinkit.com.

Fashion Advent calendar Day 11

Day 11 of mumsweardaily.com Fashion Advent calendar and it's another pair of shoes; well you can never have enough can you?

So quick question: What are ballet pink, soft velvet and from celebrated shoe designer Jimmy Choo?

Answer: The Rosana 100 AKA the perfect pair of party heels, see left.

The black satin ribbon means you can easily team them with a little black dress, for an instant update of an old favourite.

The damage? Well they will set you back a pretty penny or few at £595 but velvet is the texture du jour also seen at Gianvito Rossi, with its signature business point toe pump, bottom left, £445.

However for a velvet shoe on a shoestring head to Zara where their dusky rose heel is also embroidered making it even more value for money at £69.99.

Day 9 of mumsweardaily.com Fashion Advent calendar and if you're searching for a 'forever' bag then the Mansur Gavriel leather bucket bag must have come onto your radar.

This neutral sand colour, left, will see you through the year, mixing effortlessly with camels and greys in AW through to whites and pastels in the SS season.

It's on Net-A-Porter Most Wanted bags list and has dedicated pinterest sites, click here to see more, a sure sign that its an investment purchase that won't date.

However if you like the look but not the price tag of £565 then checkout this bucket bag from J.Crew, below.

The light blush colour would be my pick from the various shades available and at £168 is just under a third of the price of it's designer doppelganger.

Visit one of my go to features for styling inspiration 'Looks we love' at J.Crew here.
