Make-up update

I was talking to a friend the other day about a possible outfit to wear for a presentation she was doing. The most important thing is to look comfortable and confident in what you're wearing so my advise is to not buy any new clothing for anything important like an interview or meeting as you'll feel more relaxed in something tried and tested.

However if you want an instant update to refresh a look then do buy some new make-up, which is also a lot less expensive! This week I've added two new additions to my make-up bag which I'd  definitely recommend. The first was a smoky 'Nude Lingerie' L'Oreal eye shadow palette. The lighter shades are easy to blend for a daytime smoky eye or add the chocolate shade for a more dramatic look.

I also bought Nails.inc 'Knightsbridge Court' green nail varnish. It's gel one coat formula went on smoothly and I love the colour. However be warned, it's a marmite shade and has divided friends and family, my youngest pointed it out and said it was her favourite colour but then she was doing Halloween craft at the time!

Also worth noting, after I'd traipsed around most beauty salons in Worthing unsuccessfully searching for the Nails.inc range I finally found it stocked in M&S!

Today I'm wearing a black pussy bow blouse, old from Zara, my MiH cropped jeans, old from TK Maxx, Zara black ghillie lace flats, which are still in store but aren't available online and my Autograph for M&S grey over coat which has received a lot of compliments since I started wearing it.

Shoes....sorted!

Apologies there was no post yesterday as I got carried away busily cleaning and sorting out my shoe cupboard. Then before I knew it I had to pick up the kids, cart them to after school clubs and the evening just flew by.

The reason I took on the enormous task in the first place was being tempted by some Versace classic pumps at good old TK Maxx, left, positively a bargain at £199.99 down from £450! Well I was trying to justify the purchase........which then made me question what I already had that does a similar job.

I went to my shoe cupboard and groaned. Took everything out, re-positioned the shelves, took a few Flash wipes to clean the accumulated dust and then surveyed the heap of heels and soles looking at me from the mound on the bedroom floor. Versace pumps all but forgotten!

So after hoicking a few bags of footwear up to the loft (I'll sort those out later!) this is what I'm left with. Are you ready?

In boxes on the top shelf are sentimental keepers, 1 pair of Dolce & Gabbanna wedding shoes and a pair of peach satin heels that I wore on my engagement. My first pair of 'designer' shoes, Patrick Cox satin tango shoes and a pair of snow boots! 1 pair of sparkly Zara black heels and Mulberry heeled espadrilles and a strappy lilac heel too.

On the shelves below that are:
3 pairs of Havaianas flip flops,
A tan pair of gladiators, espadrilles, block heel sandals,
A leopard pair of heels, ballet pumps and slingbacks,
Gold sequin ballet pumps,
2 pairs of trainers, 1 pair of converse, 1 pair of Supergra and Mi Stan Smith's,
2 pairs of strappy ghillie flats and black brogues,
A pair of taupe courts, taupe strappy heels, then black leather fringe heels and a pair of sparkly flats.
A pair of black leather heels, suede heels, and suede ankle boots.
A pair of pewter snakeskin print heels, silver and black bow ballet pumps, black mix ballet pumps, snake print and black patent flats,
Taupe peep toe shoe boots, khaki suede lace up block heel shoes, black & white print heels.
A pair of pony print slippers, tan riding boots, tan ankle boots, grey suede slouch ankle boots, grey over the knee boots, black flat knee boots, black leather block heel boots.......

That's not including the three pair of ankle boots by the kitchen door or the Ugg boots hiding in the hubby's wardrobe!! So by my count that's fifty. Not quite Imelda Marcos, who claimed to have had 1,060 pairs of shoes, but pushing it....the question is do I need fifty one???

Well it is my birthday next week!

Thanks for stopping by.

Grey Winter coat outfit

You know it's definitely Autumn in our house when the AGA gets serviced and switched on! Now the kitchen is warm and cosy when I come down to pack lunchboxes in the early morning. My new winter coat also got an outing this morning because it was so nippy. This is the M&S Autograph wool coat that was 'as seen in Vogue' in the September issue.

I'm surprised that they still have it available as when I originally bought it they'd just launched the campaign in store and were already sold out of sizes. However true to M&S form the cashmere grey scarf I showed yesterday is now out of stock, fingers crossed they replenish soon!

I've also tried to source an ombre or graduated coloured cashmere scarf as I'm loving my Deane & White one which I got in TK Maxx. It adds interest to an otherwise block colour palette but the nearest thing I've found is this 2 tone one from L.K Bennett.

Experiment by mixing up different shades of one colour but, as I've done here with the grey of the scarf and the grey of my trousers, try to pull your look together by matching at least one shade throughout your outfit.

Shop similar items below in my outfit builder and if you enjoy this post kindly share with friends and family.

Thanks for stopping by.
