Pretty up your plaid!

Okay so not the best pic; we've got scaffolding up around the house and the garden looked like an assault course so a quick snap was taken in the kitchen.

Proving again that this is my authentic self, I'm wearing nothing new here! Apologies to those waiting to see any recent purchases, but if it's any consolation I don't think I've worn this combination before.

Today I'm wearing a check Uniqlo flannel shirt, Navy knit sweater from Gharani Strok, Topshop joggers, Adidas Mi Stan Smith Leopard shoes and Coccinelle cross body bag, all old.

If I was to buy a similar outfit now I would elevate the bottoms to the fresher trouser style jogger, like these wool mix Ashley trousers from Hush £79, left.

Although I still love my cotton cable jumper I would perhaps buy a red one, I missed out on the gorgeous Limited Edition one from Massimo Dutti, or have a roll neck line like the one below which is thankfully still available!

Massimo Dutti Cable Knit Sweater £54.95
I would still buy leopard print sneakers and luckily Hush have a great pair available this season, the Leo  Trainer £170, as well as a small mixed material cross body bag, but maybe choose one of the many now on the high street.

To update a plain check shirt I'd purchase one with interest detailing like a frill or embellishment; both Zara and Madewell have versions of a pretty plaid this season so see my top picks below.

Looking at Iris & Ink for AW

Today I wore my Iris & Ink cashmere ribbed jumper from last year; that was until I'd done the school run and returned a bit hot and sweaty! It's probably a tad early for cashmere so I ended up swapping it for my Sandro black silk top which was more suitable and a lot more comfortable for this mild Autumnal weather.

My Leopard coat is from Topshop, again last year, Lee skinny jeans and Adidas Originals Hamburg shoes, both old. Anyway it prompted me to look at The Outnet to see what Iris & Ink's collection offered for this season, and then, duly inspired, I've used my favourite items to make up todays outfit builder.

Iris & Ink- the new season campaign
Firstly I love their rework of a basic sweatshirt with the ruffled detail on the sleeves, unfortunately the fit isn't quite right for me as I prefer an unstructured hem rather than ribbing, but the price is very reasonable at £60.

Much more of an investment piece is the Shearling trimmed Leather coat, but it will age beautifully and over the years earn it's cost per wear. Going with something a bit more purse friendly I've chosen these Joey Velvet sneakers, an easy and practical way to incorporate this on trend fabric into your wardrobe, and in a 'wear with anything' shade of burgundy.

Next a wardrobe staple; distressed slim fit boyfriend jeans for those off duty days, great with a cosy cashmere jumper on the weekend, and why not swap out your black shoulder bag for this gorgeous deep navy shade?

After I purchased a couple of dresses from Iris & Ink for my sisters wedding a couple of years ago they have become one of my go to labels. Launched in 2012, by the Outnet, with an emphasis on reimagined classics, they adopt brand values after my own heart, hence this post today. Click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.

Zara AW; my recent purchases

So I've made my first online purchase for the AW season. After a quick inventory of my current wardrobe I felt a new sweatshirt with interest detail was needed. Zara seemed the natural choice, as my last two, much worn, embellished sweats were from there.

Well that was a mistake! Whilst I often look at Zara for new in and trending items when researching for my outfit builders I haven't bought anything from them recently. So you can imagine I was on the site for a while and my basket kept groaning with more items which screamed 'must purchase'.

See the four items I committed to below, with the bag and skirt on a 'Coming soon' alert.
Picture
Zara Sweatshirt with Embroidered Sleeves £29.99
Picture
Zara Oversized sweater with visible seams £29.99
I'd have preferred a lighter shade of sweatshirt but do love this fauna embroidery on the sleeves and well black is always useful! This cosy knit with exposed seams looked great with turned up cuffs and styled with girlfriend jeans, so in the basket it went.

Zara High Heel Satin Ankle Boots £49.99
Picture
Zara High Heel satin shoes with Swarovski detail £99.99
Okay so the sock boot is an on trend item this season and this deep berry shade is more sophisticated than a bright red so couldn't resist them and I'm a sucker for a lady like heel, especially for the festive season; these will add a splash of colour to a classic black tuxedo trouser suit.

Zara Geometric Print Minaudière £49.99
Picture
Zara Gemmetric Print Skirt £29.99
So these items are coming soon.....but I could have done with this Geo Minaudière bag for date night this weekend and whilst I'm not usually one to opt for a skirt I'm hoping this will look as good on me as the model as I love the cut and movement of it. I'll style it with a simple roll neck knit and over the knee boot.

Anyway I'm going to stay off the Zara website for now until I get delivery of these items; hopefully I'll need to send something back, but I doubt it!

Click on the links to shop, have a relaxing weekend and thanks for stopping by.
