Zara AW16 Printed Coat £69.99
Whilst I don't usually post about politics I cannot gloss over how important today's EU referendum outcome will be in shaping the future of our country.

I think the chasm between Remain and Leave voters comes down to the exhaustive facts that seem almost indigestible and the trust issues we harbour against politicians, irrespective of their party beliefs. The well rehearsed statistics hammered out seem to fall short of the whole picture; leaving us to feel akin to facing a GSCE maths exam, that you've adequately revised for, to then face a paper from a Biomedical degree!

We just don't know enough to get the grade we need....

Call me shallow too but as Inditex SA, the umbrella company for my favourite brands Zara, Massimo Dutti, Uterque and Pull & Bear amongst others, is Spanish based if we do vote to leave we may suddenly find retail prices spike, until new trade negotiations are bashed out. Even Pablo Isla, Chief Executive of Inditex, urged us to vote Remain. See quote below from an article on advfn.com

"While respecting the decision of the people in the U.K., we believe that a Europe without the U.K. would be weaker just as the U.K. itself would be weaker outside Europe," said Inditex Chief Executive Pablo Isla, citing an open letter he signed along with representatives from over 50 European companies.

So forget the sales I feel an AW16 shopping splurge coming on. Better go as I've only got until 22.00pm tonight until voting closes and we'll wake up tomorrow morning knowing for certain if we're IN or OUT.

Anthropologie for holiday dressing

Varca Silk shirtdress by Tanvi Kedia £158
So I'm continuing my post from yesterday about my day out in London with my picks and purchases from Anthropologie; a store my sister adores for it's living plant mural wall and a must visit if you're anywhere near Regent Street.

As soon as we entered we were struck by the wonder that is the pastel origami masterpiece, see pics below, making celebrity floral wedding walls look a bit passe. This is what you need at your next soiree! Their visual merchandisers are obviously dab hands at origami, recently turning the Kings Road store into a desert of paper blooms, for the Chelsea Flower show, click here to see the blog post.

The next thing that catches my eye is a silk print shirtdress, by Tanvi Kedia, in a tunic shape which has a lovely, considered colour palette; great for easy holiday dressing.

I pick it up and think it's a tad pricey at £158. So I look at the sale rail in the hope of finding something similar but keep thinking how much wear I would get out of the shirtdress, see dress above.

I then think about my upcoming family holiday in Greece and how perfect it would be for the evening dinners on the beach! So it's a keeper and when I see another lady waft past with one on her way to the till point it's a validated purchase.

The reason I find Anthropologie so inspirational is that, as a brand, it marches to the beat of it's own drum unlike the fast fashion stores that compete to be first out the gates to trot out the latest trends.

Anthropologie scours and source beautiful items, whether it be clothing, gifts or accessories for the home, that will transcend trends and give you season after season of joy!

My sister was looking for a dress to wear to a friends wedding and I picked out this gorgeous Sidra chiffon dress by HD in Paris £158, shown left.

Anthropologie 'Atelier headband' £32
We also looked at the hair accessory and hats range, where I found another  impulse purchase, this Atelier headband, which is a refreshing alternative to a traditional fascinator. Available online in this bright coral colour, above left, but it was the neutral nude shade that I bought in store.

As an occasion outfit the HD in paris chiffon dress and coral Atelier headband would work so well together and I would probably add a strappy metallic heel like these Natalia gold heels by Klub Nico £188, below. to keep the overall look delicate and fresh.

So if it's holiday or an occasion outfit; a mini, maxi or strapless dress you're after Anthropologie could be the store for you; it even has a dedicated 'Dress shop' online so it's definitely worth having a look.

Or if you're searching for something more unique but have a limited budget visit the sale online too.

A London day out

The Knickerbocker Glory £12
I met my sister in London over the weekend as we were off to see Coldplay at Wembley so decided to make a day of it.

We met up at the iconic Fortnum & Mason for lunch and over indulged in 'The Parlour'; a candy coloured retro inspired cafe designed by the late interior designer David Collins as part of the stores refurbishment in 2007.

Of course being a newly wed my sister created her own sundae named after her married surname! I opted for one of the signature Rose and Violet sundaes with edible rose petals and candy floss, see below, but had to admit defeat half way through as it was so huge.

Whilst we're both big kids at heart I must admit it was a great venue for children and will definitely revisit with my offspring in tow; so good were the colouring placemats I asked to take two home!

After whiling away a couple of hours in 'The Parlour' we headed to Waterstones; which, in my opinion, is one of the best places for unique/educational/interesting children gifts.

There has been a lot of chatter about Emma Cline's new novel 'The Girls', see left, so I bought a signed by the author copy there whilst introducing my sister to the delights that are Rorys Story Cubes, one of my go to birthday presents for under 8's!

We then wandered to Regent Street for some retail therapy and headed to Massimo Dutti to see what their sale had to offer.

I ended up buying four pieces, an ivory cotton blazer to replace an old Zara one which has now discoloured, an ivory 100% silk blouse with pockets, an investment purchase and a wardrobe staple, then two items for holiday; a cotton and silk knit sweater for cooler evenings and some raw hem viscose culottes, which are another easy wear holiday evening option.

I ended up having to buy a cotton shopper from Paperchase for my all my purchases, see left, London A-Z shopper £10, and then after some dinner we made our way to Wembley for Coldplay.

They really do know how to put on a great performance and the laser light show was enhanced by the sun setting down on a packed stadium, accompanied by my all time favourite Coldplay song 'Yellow'!

Click on the links for more information or to shop and read my post tomorrow about more of my picks and purchases from Anthropologie.

Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by.
