Thought for the day: Refrain to Sustain!

This morning I went to watch my daughters year assembly which told the story of 'The Lorax" by Dr Seuss. The book was first published in 1971 but the message is still as relevant today as it was back then with this quote "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better it's not' being particularly poignant; when we consider the current plight of our planet.

We know that the textiles industry is one of the biggest polluters to the environment so if you're trying to do your bit then the best way is to 'refrain to sustain'. Be better informed; visit sites such as Worn Again or download the app 'Good on You', which gives brands an ethical and sustainability rating. Consider your fashion purchases, buy well and be less wasteful, take good care of your clothes to prolong their lifespan and then recycle or rehome items to a dress agency or consignment store.

Planning daily looks, curating your wardrobe and being more thoughtful about the impact of buying your next item of clothing will go some way towards wanting less 'Thneeds' and preserving more 'Truffula trees' of our own.

M&S Pure Cotton Utility Jumpsuit £55 Sold Out
It comes as no surprise that the Holly Willoughby Edit for M&S denim jumpsuit, above, has now sold out! My experience of M&S is that they quickly sell out of any item that gets a lot of editorial. This is either because they don't back it in quantity when first buying or they can't react quickly enough to reorder when initial sales are promising. Full price sales for any trend item rely on getting it into stores at the right time for consumers; too early and the appetite isn't there, too late and you've missed the opportunity.

If you've been unable to get your mitts on the M&S denim jumpsuit don't worry; there are more versions on the high street that are available and you may even prefer them! See my top 5 picks above, but hurry if you want to buy into this trend as all styles are selling quickly. Click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.

Elevated gym outfit

It's back to normal weather wise and so an elevated ath/leisure look was the order of the day. Here I'm wearing a Massimo Dutti hooded knit jumper, old, Reiss Leather biker jacket, old, Nike trainers, old, and Kyodan Camouflage joggers, which I bought from TK Maxx.

It's a brand that I hadn't come across before so after a bit of research I found out it's an activewear label that originates in Montreal, Canada. It has an online presence but no stand alone stores or concessions in the UK. Whilst I haven't been able to source a current, similar camouflage jogger I have found some great leggings, my top three of which are below, and chosen a more gym appropriate look for todays outfit builder.

Recently I purchased a plain gym top from H&M and I think it's probably my favourite high street sportswear range at the moment. I love the light heather shade to soften the greys and black of more flattering leggings and the considered back details of the tops; see below; definitely a collection to check out if you need new gym gear!

I've also shown a Herve Chapelier nylon shopping bag as that's what I use for my gym stuff; it's roomy, wipeable and got a handy inside pocket for padlocks and membership cards. I know there are a few UK stockists but the best place to see the whole range is online which does mean you may incur a shipping cost. I also own a S'well aluminium water bottle and discovered they now do a monogrammed version, exclusive to John Lewis, which I've shown too..

As my current nail shade is nude I've also picked 'Brief Encounter' from Leighton Denny, as that's what I like my gym visits to be! Click on the links to shop and as always thanks for stopping by.
