Sometimes I think I should rename my blog 'Dog walkers daily', as that's what I seem to be dressing for in the mornings these days. Today was a practical ensemble of breton long sleeve top and flannel shirt, both old from Uniqlo, Lee 'Elly' jeans, J.Crew Chelsea Rain boots, Maje Parka, see link for similar, and cable knit fur pom pom hat from The Fur Bobble shop.

I'd been looking for some welly boots for a while and love these J.Crew Camouflage pair, which are still available, see above. Whilst the Chelsea boot style of welly seems to be on trend I do think it's still tricky to find stylish wet weather footwear so I've put together my top ten wellies, from both designer and the more staple wellington brands, like Hunter and Aigle. Worth noting too is that Joules has a handy Welly Care Guide so no excuses if your boots look past their best!

So get splashing in those puddles, click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.

,Happy International Womens day; a day to reflect and celebrate 'the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity'.

This year, more than any other, it feels that we aren't being too premature about being optimistic or hopeful that the sea change is upon us, and that our gender will continue to make positive strides on the path already well trodden. With Mother's day this weekend I'd also like to praise my mum for all that she did raising twin girls, especially impressing upon us that the world was our oyster and we could achieve our dreams, no matter what.

Back to todays outfit builder and the inspiration has come from the street style trend, seen at various fashion week shows, of layering coats and blazers. I've chosen items from the sale, now on, at The Outnet and their own brand Iris & Ink, both of which I love and often feature on my blog. That said I can't guarantee availability of stock or sizes, so if you want to achieve the look you must buy fast!

I've picked a bright red statement trench and tailored twill blazer from Maje for the outerwear layering, thrown in a bag and scarf from a favourite accessory designer of mine Anya Hindmarch, added that to basics from Iris & Ink, to create todays 'classic with a twist' outfit.

It's 'gilet' cold! Brrr....

My Uniqlo gilet, or vest as Uniqlo call them, and light down coat have come into their own over the past couple of days; especially as, like in so many homes across the country, my heating packed in. I'll bet you it's the condensate pipe....if it's exposed to the low temperatures outside then it freezes leaving the boiler to shut down and no amount of pressing the Reset button will get it fired up again!

The cheapest solution is to wait it out until Blighty gets back up to above freezing temperatures, and it thaws out....however I'm waiting for the certified professional to come out while I'm sat huddled in the kitchen, AGA plates up, with my gilet on! I've also loved my new Ugg Boots since the 'Beast from the East' visited. Cosy enough not to have to faff with socks and sturdy enough to negotiate the frozen stuff underfoot.

So todays outfit builder shows both my cold weather hero items as well as a Weekday 'It's not enough' sweatshirt; after some people on the South Coast lamented that our dusting of snow was a bit feeble and not enough to make even a snowball!

The children and I however have had great fun courtesy of 'the One Show' after seeing a lady in Siberia throwing a bottle of boiling water up in the air to make snowflakes. Obviously I recommend adult supervision and some ski gloves, but definitely a great practical science experiment to try in these freezing conditions! I'm assuming they don't have condensate pipes in Siberia, where temperatures can reach -60!!

I'm still waiting for the boiler man to come so until then keep warm, click on the links to shop and thanks for stopping by.
