Chambray shirt outfit

I layered my western style chambray shirt under a grey sweatshirt today with my burgundy Zara coated biker jeans, all of which are old. I had to add my Leopard Stan Smiths as the outfit was crying out for some pattern and interest. I've been wearing my Uniqlo Light Down coat a lot with the weather being so wet and I've lost a bit of momentum in the mornings regarding my look!

I think it's harder to get excited about my outfit building when 1) I'm trying to be more frugal when it comes to fast fashion and 2) Spring feels like it's just around the corner, so you wait for new trends to hit down and 3) the weather has more control than you over what is appropriate!

Anyway what I like about having to research my outfit builders is, whilst I take my own outfit as initial inspiration, I can pick and choose what I would wear from the current ranges, allow myself the odd designer indulgence, or set myself the challenge of finding something equivalent from the high street, which is virtual shopping; so it gives me a purchasing rush without the outlay!

Todays outfit builder below has a chambray shirt and sweatshirt that are both on my wishlist but I can't justify buying; if I adhere to my own Wardrobe Wand Criteria of does it replace or repeat and therefore do you really need it? So, for now, I'm content to just show it here instead.

When the SS17 catwalk collections showed in September Chanel, as always, reworked the designer brands Iconic Tweed jacket, and the high street were quick to follow with many stores offering a mashed up, multi coloured fibre, tweed blazer.

However some trends get interpreted too soon, especially as it's too cold in December to don just a jacket, so a lot of styles were seen in the January markdown.

Saying that some remodels were best sellers, J.Crew's   Collection French Tweed Jacket and Hush Black Frayed cropped version, for example, showing that this wardrobe staple still has legs; which is why I'm seeing it pop up again in the Spring high street offer.

Next, Zara and J.Crew are just 3 retailers that have reworked it, see above, with fringed hem or contrast edging to give a contemporary twist.

So whilst Bombers, Bikers and Belted Blazers reign supreme at the moment this is the jacket to plump for if you want to add polish to a work wear look, without resorting to a ladylike suit or see pic, left, for a modern way to wear it for an off duty ensemble, songofstyle.com Pinterest Image.

Ski outfit Inspiration

Sorel Glacy Explorer Snow Boots £130

The other weekend I was out and about in soggy weather and noticed my Ugg boots were letting in water. I have had them for a while but was still disappointed as I haven't actually worn them that much considering.

They are definitely over the Year warranty but I may still follow it up with Head office; however in the meantime with a ski trip pending and the weather as it is I thought I'd invest in a new pair of Snow boots.

For Ski wear inspiration I tend to look at the Net-A-Porter Ski shop first, then Snow and Rock for an overview of trends. Whilst a dash of citrus brights seem to be this seasons update a monochrome look was coming through as a strong basic look. See more Snow fashion forecasts here at thesnowmag.com and 10 best Winter Boots article at Instyle.com. I've also started a Pinterest board of Snow Boot Outfits here.

Sorel is a trusted brand for footwear and I loved these black and white Glacy Explorer full fleece lined snow boots; which are appropriate for light snow and are also waterproof. They were the ones that I kept going back to and so decided to buy them from Sorel directly. Unfortunately by the time I got an email informing me they were sold out in my size they were also sold out on most other websites too!

Luckily Avenue 32 also stocked the style and I was very impressed with their service, delivery and packaging when I received them the next day, see above pics, so would definitely buy from them again.  I'm very happy with the longer version as they also do a shortie boot, below, if you want an alternative to a welly and aren't planning to be in the snow any time soon!
